I used to work for a GMC dealer in the mid 80's and it was unfortunate that a) there wasn't many of the elco\cabelero's to begin with, 2) the dealer couldn't give them away if they had them, which they really did tried to.

I always liked them and thought they were the perfect mix of truck and car. Nice truck..errr car...err truck!

I know your are right , the chevy el camino and the gmc sprint were cool but not many wanted one , I was in dallas in the early 70's when the Pontiac dealer I worked for has some , I always like and wanted one , but never got one for some reason , found this one and just had to have it . it sure rides and runs good. its also a lot more comfortable for me to drive, a lot more leg room . believe it or not , in Anton with a population of about 1200 people we have 7 el camino's in town.....but mine is the sharpest. I am a small block guy also , ole dollor was a 292 six and the first 6 banger I ever messed with , the 350 is just the best bang for the buck you can buy .

I did have a lot of fun with that truck , but it was hard to stay with the six, but it was cool to mess around with it. Don

Re: New Toy it is a truck

Really neat car, looks to be in fine shape. Dont know why people frown on small blocks? While I like a bbc as much as the next guy, my old boss bought a 383 built by some shop in the southern US for his 73 Camaro and its just insane. He has taken down all sorts of 496s and 540s mostly because he gets traction and they dont, but hey, a small block propelled him to the line first! Congrats again on the ElCo
