Never had an air-cooled, but I love these pictures. I'm on my second VW, and I sell them for a living.

Re: How many members are VW guys

I just bought my first chev, but am an avid vw enthusiast, having owned 15 to date, a couple in the driveway right now.

Our daily 07 2.0T, with a few add-ons and go fast goodies

And what the chevy will be towing

(68' squareback, full independent airride, with stock heat, and a bunch of other custom touches )

Re: How many members are VW guys

Thanks! They're reps, but good enough for now. The car is currently stg1 and going stg 3 this summer (down pipe K04 swap, cts intercooler, etc), then I will look for a better set of wheels. Good enough for the gf to go shopping with for now lol.

Wow, I missed the thread on this. Well this is my 60' vert. I learned to drive on a 67' so my burn is still on. Featured on three mags, VW Trends, Volksworld, and VW Speed.

Re: How many members are VW guys

I don't consider myself a VW guy but did have a 70 Beetle that I had a lot of fun with. It was long before digital cameras so don't have many pics, but here's one. I put flared fenders on it and had the wheels widened to match the additional width of the fenders. It had a Karman Ghia front suspension with disk brakes, and just about every other hop up or add-on that JC Whitney sold, LOL. People loved VW's back then but I never really considered them to be very good cars.

Re: How many members are VW guys

Funny story about when had my VW for sale. A guy called and said he was going to bring a friend who was a VW "expert" to check it out. They drove up the friend's tan 70 Beetle. The perspective buyer asked if it was OK for his friend to test drive it and I said fine, he's welcome to test drive it. They came back in about 20 minutes and got into a minor disagreement in my driveway, seems the "expert" wanted my VW and wanted the perspective buyer to buy his.

Re: How many members are VW guys

I had a 1970 VW T2a a few years back.
When you parked it somewhere, everyone talked to you about it.
I think everbody drove one of these back in the day in Europe

It was a very nice car, but everyone passed because it was so slow, so I wrote this on the back.
Now they understood

Re: How many members are VW guys

Changed the wheels on my '64 and I'm updating the 1679cc with ported/bigger valve heads, a bigger cam, better exhaust, and bigger venturis. Hoping to go from 90 hp to around 130-140.

Also bought a really solid and straight '63 Vert body. Found a pan for it and got it rolling, then stuck it in the barn to save as a future project.

Re: How many members are VW guys

Ya, I've owned a few...

67 I built & painted

61 in the foreground I built & painted. A 57 with a zero rust 2 owner in the background, original 36hp. Man that thing was a sweet driving/riding car.

My baby - 57 ragtop 76 Corvette yellow/white with gold pearl over the whole thing. 69 pan, original thermometer style fuel gauge. Had a bunch of other original accessories on it. The guy that bought it added the big wheels and put the side euro lights and Empi badge.

67 Deluxe with a 68 type III trans to get rid of the gear reduction boxes. Real 14" Porsche Fuchs off of a 67 912 I had. Later on I had polished the Fuchs but couldn't find a picture with them finished on the bus. Gene berg (RIP) 1776 engine.

A 61 I built for a buddy. Grafted in a ragtop sunroof, on a 69 pan. Light lavender with blue pearl over it
