8 lug wheel options

Just wanted to know a little about my options for wheels on my 71 3/4 4X4. It is going to be an all orginal stock truck, so i wanted to stay with that type of look, but i think the split rims have to go. I have thought about the whole stock steel wheels and hub caps, but also wondered about using a late model (88-98) steel wheel with caps and rings.

Any help is appreciated.

David

Ditch the split rims and go for 16 inch steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps. This is Erl's 68 GMC, which I think is the finest 4x4 on this board (no offense to anyone, just my opinion). It's got it all, GMC Grille, 67/68 hood, 8 foot stepside bed w/spare, color green, no lift, and dog dishes! Yes, I'm jealous.

Ebay mostly, or this board. The rears which are not on the pic are the same as 2wd 3/4 ton caps. The 1/2 tons won't fit!

Just to clarify, the hub caps that were factory on our trucks have the blue bowties in the center like the half ton caps? and the newer model have yellow?

Thanks
David

Yes. Early post-72 (73, 74, 75) caps are identical except for bowtie color. The front 4x4 caps have a cutout for the hub, so this is a non-issue. I'd paint a set of gold ones if I found them at the right price.

Earl's truck is pretty nice huh?
