I want a raptor but refuse to sell my kidneys.

As the title says I want a raptor, and since my K20 soon will have a new home I hope. I need something else.

How close to a raptor can I coax out of a stock C20 suspension. With out going to custom long travel a arms or something.

Truck must be a crew cab since I can not avw another rclb like my K20 for family times.

You're trying to compare an 80s c20 to a new Ford Raptor? I think you're way off

Depends how you want to use the truck.Trail riding and mid range off roading your truck can do with some upgrades. Now high speed desert racing that would take a ton of money for any truck to take that beating and last.I'm a ford guy and think the raptor is way over priced and hyped.

If you cant afford a Raptor, you cant afford to build a C/K 20 to act like one unless you have mad fab skills.

I have riden in one on the street, and it sucked up dips quite well.

Do you think a bagged C20 set up soft could be fairly close.

Or is the longer a arm of the Raptor to much of an advantage.

I wasn't comparing the trucks. No where in my post says does any comparison take place.

I was asked if a tarted up C20 could get close to Raptor performance.

Thusly no comparison, but using the Raptor as my bench mark for my next truck.

See above post.

The raptor is a nice truck, but no where near a truly set up pre-runner.

You know they go for $55,000 plus right. You can build a lot of truck for that. Which as hinted I do not want to sell my kidneys. So I am comfortable with a few thousand in sspension if I can get close to the raptor as a base line.

I know with out customer A arms, and a stack of bills. Close is as close as I can hope for.

Which is why in the second paragraph first two words are "how close".

You'll have to go with custom arms for more travel. Custom suspension won't be 55k, but it won't be cheap either.

I dig the look of the Raptors & get the draw. But, new Raptors can be financed. Setting up a +25yr old CC 3/4 ton as a pre-runner can't. Which is the greater out of pocket expense?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Air bags can help but if you want it to go off road then you go http://giantmotorsports.com/content/view/85/105/

I'd think you could bolt some fake beadlock alloys and 33" All Terrains for $3-4k and get the look.

Spend another $1-2k replacing all the worn out parts, ball joints, bushings, shocks, brakes and it'll drive real nice and not grind the tires off as quick.
