Got my 1966 chevy custom camper delivered to my shop today. So excited to get started on cleaning it up. The most unmolested truck I have ever seen or owned. But thats for another thread......
Has anyone ever seen this tag that is on the glove box door? Looks offical to me, but I have never seen one before.....? Please educate me on this guys!!! |

Re: Has anyone ever seen one of these??
I haven't seen one on a Chevy, but I've seen them on Chryslers back in the fifties.
I wonder if George Earls is related to Harley Earls from General Motors fame.

I don't know about the name plate but those duck print floor mats are out of this world! All kidding aside though, that is one super nice truck. Love the Alaskan camper too!

Re: Has anyone ever seen one of these??
I'm guessing that's a dealer added trinket.
What a diamond in the rough you have! Really a beaut. Take your time and ponder the irreversible consequences of any action you take while cleaning it up. Sometimes tragedy lurks behind good intentions. A good example would be satisfying the urge to have a clean engine bay and using the wrong degreaser or a super high pressure washer. Either of those can totally destroy nice engine paint that's just hiding under a little muck. Patience is key! I don't mean to preach, just sayin it's easy to make poor decisions. This I know from experience. Last edited by oem4me; 05-16-2015 at 11:57 PM. |

That is a nice truck you found
I agree that the tag was either dealer installed or maybe owner installed. You used to be able to order tags like that back in the '80's. I'm thinking it is owner installed. It looks like the same adhesive is used on that tag as was used on the now missing CHEVROLET trim on the glove box door.

Re: Has anyone ever seen one of these??
Thank you all for the feedback. Much appreciated. I am finding out very quickly the more time i spend looking over this truck and camper, how little I want to disturb it.
There are two drawers on the the back of the camper, on either side of the inner bed walls, that pull out. These allow you access to view a portion of the bedwood, the inner wheel tubs, inside bed walls and the front bed panel....... Now i dont have a picture to post of it yet, so I do apologise, but I will take some tomorrow and begin a new thread. I dont think I will disappoint. |

Re: Has anyone ever seen one of these??
It's def cool and I think I need to have a tag made like that to put on my glove box when I'm done with my build. Lol
