door jam wire looms

Has anyone installed a set of braided steel wire looms on there truck? If so, what is the best brand and what length do I need?

Are you sold on the steel braided? Is rubber not an option?

Don't know anything about the metal ones, but I've used the rubber parts-store ones on other projects and they worked fine.

I never even thought about using the rubber ones. The ones that I have seen look like I would have to drill a larger hole. Do you have any examples of the ones you are using?

Re: door jam wire looms

My looms required a 7/8" hole. I was hesitant to drill such a large hole for one wire but felt if I left that wire exposed it would look worse. im happy with the result and feel it looks clean. They were included with the power window kit by nu-relics. I believe they will sell them separately.

How do you like the power window kit? Would you get the same brand again?

Without a doubt. Bolt in with a lifetime warranty and built in the US. Definitely not cheap but I've grown to hate having to do something again because I cheaped out the first time. They sent the wrong spine type cranks but a quick no hassle phone call had them sent with a prepaid return label for the incorrect units.

Re: door jam wire looms

Just for reference, here is a pic of my braided wire loom guards.
They work awesome, and look great. I am not sure on the brand but I can try to remember to look for the package the next time that I go to work on my truck.
I know that I still have the package, as there were some extra parts for multiple apps.
The rubber ones that you have look like they will work great also...They look like an OEM style part.

Not at all. You may need to power them up to adjust the regulator. With the screws they provide with the cranks it seems they're supposed to be attached from inside the door going out to the crank. If you need to remove the crank for any reason you would have to completely remove the regulator/motor assembly. I just picked up some longer screws and used some quick nuts. The switches are threaded, pulling to the door when attached with screws from inside going out but attaching from the outside in required the quick nuts. I had to remove the lip on the crank hole with a dremel to attach the clips. Compared to what you've been doing this should be a breeze.

What you have is what I was considering because I didn't want to drill a large hole. Braided would have been the choice if I had billet accessories or silver paint, like yourself, but I'm going for a more OEM look. I know it's not OE anymore but you know what I mean.

Do you remember the length of the ones you have? I see them in an 11in and 18in length.

Re: door jam wire looms

Where are you all running your wires after they enter the door jamb. I can not see any openings on that part of the jamb.
