Spid Help on an inflation fighter
Shopping for my truck and this one is right in my range, but I'm wondering about something.
Could this 71 inflation fighter have come with an auto trans? It has one now but nothing on spid. So the question is, could "Inflation Fighter A" have included it? I've seen the other inflation fighter threads, but couldn't find a spid of one with auto. Any ideas? |

Re: Spid Help on an inflation fighter
The truck would have been a 3 speed on the column. If it came as an automatic it would be on the SPID.

Re: Spid Help on an inflation fighter
There use to be an old Inflation Fighter tv commercial on youtube, I think it pointed out what was included in that package.
Check and see if its still on the tube |

Re: Spid Help on an inflation fighter
Looks like a real Inflation Fighter right there. I believe the only options were those included in the package. Options are listed even when they are included in a trim level or promotion package. The purpose of the SPID is for future parts identification when servicing. "Highlander" or "Inflation Fighter" doesn't tell a service department anything about how the truck was equipped w/o referencing old sales material.

Re: Spid Help on an inflation fighter
Thanks gentlemen. After looking at all the pictures of the truck, I've determined the steering column is definitely changed, and it looks like the engine and tranny were swapped, and power steering was added.
Since I don't know how good a job was done on those things, I'm leery now. I'll hold my horses and keep looking. If the price comes way down, I'll reconsider. This right here below is what I'm looking for, but not interested in going to California, or paying for it and shipping it to Texas sight unseen. Re: Spid Help on an inflation fighter
You learn something everyday. Never heard of the "inflation fighter" on the SPID. Pretty cool. Since my 72' has even fewer options does that make for the 30's "great depression fighter" as an option?
