Any members within 250 miles of WV that media blast?

Yep, you read that right.

I'm willing to drive 250 miles one way to hire a member to media blast my NOS fender and rocker panels.

At the very least, can someone suggest a shop that I can trust to treat my panels right?

I am in southern WV.

I used stripper for hire out of Greensburg Pa. He has a portable soda blaster and does it on site. Real nice guy and did a great job. The soda will not damage the metal at all but it does not take off rust. Not sure how far he will travel. Google stripper for hire and you will see his Facebook page. It's about half way down the page so don't get distracted.

Won't remove rust? Well, that's going to be a problem! This fender has lots of surface rust...nothing penetrating....but surface rust galore.

Now the body shop manager strongly suggested "media blasting" so is there a form that does remove rust?

I'll get a pic tomorrow.

Sand will remove the rust but there is a good chance it will warp the sheet medal. There may be another media that will take off the rust and not warp the medal but not sure what it is.

Re: Any members within 250 miles of WV that media blast?

I've seen walnut shells used. Seemed pretty good. Honestly I'm not convinced sand will hurt the metal. We used it in the body shop I worked at somewhat frequently (mind you we restored old trucks, camaros, vettes, and other old muscle very frequently, with no warping. I've used it on my own stuff with no trouble. Sure i understand caution but I've never had a bad expieeence with it that's all I'm saying. The metal used on the body of these old trucks from the factory is much more resilient than the modern metal used today, I suppose I could see the tin can metal of today warping but I really can't comment on that as I never tried it on anything late model.
