stock radio

I'm nearing the end of my build on my 85 3/4 ton. I want to keep the interior as stock as possible. But I'm having issues with my stock radio working. I'm thinking about taking it apart and cleaning it. Anybody have a schematic of the internals on it. Attached is a picture of the radio. Thanks for any and all help in advanced.

Re: stock radio

You might try searching ebay with the model number. I've seen several delco manuals there.

Re: stock radio

I posted the 1975 Delco Radio Service Handbook on the bottom my manuals thread. It probably isn't the set you're looking for but it has a lot of Theory of Operation and basic generic radio troubleshooting that applies to all Delco radios of that general age.

Re: stock radio

For just a schematic, you might want to pick up a Sam's Photofact manual that covers your model number. They don't list any troubleshooting steps or theory of operation like many of the Delco manuals though. But the Sam's manuals do have good schematics along with photos pointing out where the components are physically located on the circuit boards.

Based on your pic, yours looks like a Delco model #30BCCS1. But check the tag/sticker on the case (if it's still there) to be sure. If that is your model number, it should be covered in Sam's AR-339 according to the index on their site.

findatube.com has the Sam's AR (auto radio) manuals available for a few dollars each.

Care to elaborate on this? I'm having the exact issue. Thanks for any input.

Re: stock radio

The copper strips soften or break, causing it to on/off when driving.
Try bypassing the plug, or take it out.

Turns out it was just a bad power wire. So i found my other dash harness and cut the radio plug in of and swapped them. I have the radio like I wanted but i don't think the tape deck works. No biggie though. Thanks everybody for the helpful info

Re: stock radio

This information may or may not be useful to some folks. The OP has a parts donor. Active vs Obsolete info as of May 31, 2015

The terminals for the 73-91 Delco Analog Radio plugs are not listed as obsolete. They look like they could still be miserable to source as the usual suspects don't stock them.
There are several sources that stock sets of all three Delco radio plugs as assembled repair pigtails.
  • Delphi connection systems part #12040500 Active Cu Ti Terminal, Bow Printed Circuit Female, W-Crimp, Cable Range 0.50 - 0.80 mm˛
  • Delphi connection systems part #12004543 Obsolete 4 Way Black Printed Circuit Bow Unsealed Female Connector Shell {POWER}
  • Delphi connection systems part #12004544 Active 4 Way Cream Printed Circuit Bow Unsealed Female Connector Shell {Front Speaker(s)}
  • Delphi connection systems part #12004545 Obsolete 4 Way Blue Printed Circuit Bow Unsealed Female Connector Shell {Rear Speaker(s)}

The 87-91 digital radios used Pack-Con Series I connectors or a mix of the above Delco radio connectors and Pack Con I. Pack Con I terminals and connectors are available in-stock from the usual suspects.
  • Delphi connection systems Part #08911772 Active 2 Way Black Pack-Con I Unsealed Female Connector, Max Current 40 amps {Power and Digital clock power on several 87-91 radios.}
  • Delphi connection systems Part #12040508 Active Cu Ti Series I Pack-Con Female Unsealed Tin Plating Tang Terminal, Cable Range 0.50 - 0.80 mm˛
