Interior color coordination help

My 71 (Cheyenne) C10's stock interior is Saddle ("Saddle Vinyl Custom" according to the SPID). Currently, the carpet is brown and I am fairly confident it is not the original carpet. What would have been the correct factory color: saddle or brown?

The factory color was a dark brown carpet. This is an original 71 Cheyenne Saddle interior.

I think the saddle interiors look sweet. I wish my Ochre was saddle instead of black .

Re: Interior color coordination help

Here's a couple pics of all the saddle interior in my truck. What do ya think? Even the carpet was listed as saddle. Hope this helps?

Re: Interior color coordination help

In the three photos above, the carpet looks to be saddle, not brown. Still confused, but leaning toward saddle carpet. Also, the a/c side vents in my truck are chrome. Was saddle vent ball housings how it came from the factory? Not too worried (or care) about this item, just curious.

One more question: It seems the PO glued something on the dash pad and since removed. However, there is silicon sealant residue all over the otherwise pristine dash pad. Any ideas how to remove silicon sealant from the dash pad without destroying the dash pad?

9teen69: Funny, I was just discussing with my wife day before your post that I was contemplating changing the interior to all black! She was indifferent. After your post, I might leave it saddle. The reason I was contemplating black is that almost everything in the interior needs to be replaced eventually.

I say no to the black everyone does it it's so generic looking some po painted all my parchment black years ago unfortunately. To me it's just looks like a guy took the easy way out similar to removing the outer mouldings and not replacing

The correct carpet is a dark brown, "saddle" is too light. Remember just because a vendor offers a color it may not be correct for a given yearif at all.

The A/C ball housings are generally the trim color (in your case saddle) but they may also be painted body color. Black is seen as a default color too. Chromed housings are not stock.

As far as what you have or if you should go to black, a picture or more information would be helpful.

Which one? J/K. I think they might be out of a Dodge? Picked them up at a swap meet. Had them recovered, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Re: Interior color coordination help

I'm still confused. Can't figure out all the vendors calling the door panel color something different. Some vendors have dark saddle, saddle, but not all interior parts in a consistent color. For instance Classic Parts have 71 door skins in light saddle but the dash pad seems to be dark saddle. Some vendors have light saddle, some simply saddle and some dark saddle or a combination of everything. I am so confused.

I cannot figure it out. Other than I believe I have a light saddle interior.
