Windshield trim modification?

I have a 68 parts truck that has decent windshield trim that I was going to put on my 71 that didn't have any previously. I had all ready ordered the rubber gasket before I bought this parts truck but didn't realize the difference of years for the trim and how it sits in the rubber. Can 68-70 window trim with the "deep lip" be modified to fit the shallow lipped 71-72 gasket easily? I don't have any 71-72 trim to compare too so even close up pictures of that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
