2/4 drop installed
It is the deluxe 2/4 drop from Early Classics so it has the rear shock relocation brackets. The kit itself is fairly straightforward to install but there was 48 years of Saskatchewan roads to deal with so it took some extra time. I snapped a breaker bar and used a lot of heat and torque to get everything out. The rear coil retainers were rusted right to the coils and had to be replaced. I would recommend changing these anyways even though they do not come with the kit. I also snapped the rear rubber brake line by lifting the frame after it was disconnected from the rear end. That resulted in rebuilding half of the brake system and some delays finding parts. But on the good side I ended up going through the truck, cleaning the drive train and addressing some leaks.
The ride is not nearly as stiff as I was expecting. I am happy with the height as I originally planned to do the 4/6 but I think that would have been too much for the roads here. There is a noticeable improvement in handling but that was to be expected given the age of what I took out. I discovered 2 broken coils so when I get asked why I did all the work I can say it was for safety reasons..... |

Re: 2/4 drop installed
Thanks guys.
Tires are 31x10.5x15. I ordered direct from Early Classics. I prefer the step side in the previous generation but agree they are nice! |

Re: 2/4 drop installed
I really like the stance on your truck. I agree that a 2/4 drop is good for bad roads. Nice job.

Re: 2/4 drop installed
Sweet!
Miz Diane has been asking about 2/4 drops but has a hard time visualizing. I have a pic of ours that is almost identical and now I can show her a side-by-side comparison. Ours has a leaf rear-end but Early Classic offers a 4" leaf kit.

Re: 2/4 drop installed
If you do not have a front sway bar on that truck you should install one and you will be very pleased with the way your truck handles corners. We should meet up sometime and please come to one of my Meet at TH Meets I organize in the summer. Pm me your number if you want to meet up. I'm off all week and bio back to work Saturday.

Re: 2/4 drop installed
I would have to look at the invoice but it was not cheap to ship here. I decided to go the more expensive route to get a kit that had good feedback rather than run into potential issues. Having said that I did not know about Scott's Supertrucks in Penhold Alberta. I think they sell kits. Very good to deal with.
Already Gone I will send you a PM. EDIT: Shipping was $275 CDN |

Re: 2/4 drop installed
Thanks. I have bought lots from Scott's but he doesn't sell 3/4 ton lowering springs. Starting to think I may just buy C10 springs and go for it.
