72 C20 Rewire - Question
I am in the middle of doing my 1st rewire using the painless kit. So far it is slow going (i have to stop around 1pm due to the heat), but seems to be going ok. I have fuse block installed and have ran most of the engine compartment wires. I have removed the instrument cluster and have removed the old wiring and an prepping to make connections there.
I have a few qusetions I am sure will pop up but here is one I have taken a picture of. It is up behind the brake pedal pretty high up. It had an orange/white wire connected to it. I disconnected it but cant make out what it is. http://i.imgur.com/fJ6GiN6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/RojpOcj.jpg Thanks Jared |

That is the brake pedal switch. Its used to turn on the brake lights when you hit the brake pedal.

I am currently working on the engine part of the rewire (already did the headlights / alternator). here is a picture I attached the maxi-fuse to the firewall near right side. I found this green wire going to the transmission that tied into the old harness along with some other things. I am not sure how this ties into the painless though. Any ideas? I attached a picture of the green wire and a picture from the top down looking at the transmission with the part where it plugs in is circled. Any help is appreciated. Jared |

Re: 72 C20 Rewire - Question
I talked to a guy @ lunch at the auto parts store who seems to think it is a back up light signal. I can get on board with that but I dont understand how it is supposed to tie in with the painless system. The whole bundle of cables it was tied into also had a yellow wire coming from the (distributor coil?). I feel really close to having most of the original wiring removed, this section being one of the last.
Anyways, I will keep searching! |
