Best prices on wheels

I have searched and only came up with a group buy that's been over for a long time. Who on the forum has the best wheel deals? Looking for help on 6 lug Torque thrust St's or similar. As most, looking for 18" or 20s with a 8 and 10 width to fit a 3 - 6 drop on a step side without rubbing. Does that sound a right? Thanks

Re: Best prices on wheels

Well since no reply let me ask it another way.

What are my options for chrome or aluminum wheels that still maintain my 6 lug fitment and will fit my 67 step without breaking the bank and who sells them?

Re: Best prices on wheels

For 6 lugs, I've seen some cool trucks with newer truck take off wheels. I've also noticed you can get some pretty good deals with people that are trying to sell take off factory wheels because they went aftermarket.

I've never checked 6 lugs, but this place has a couple of 5 lugs that I might do:

Americas Tire or Discount Tire will match any price and can get just about any wheel you want.

Re: Best prices on wheels

Depends on how much work you want to do. I picked up a set of Torq Thrust STs on eBay for $400. The clear coat was peeling on the machined lips, so I stripped it off and polished them. I also had to use a router and rabbetting bit to enlarge the bore on the wheels to fit over the hubs.

The polishing was worth the work. I am not sure if all trucks are the same, but the hub bore on the wheels was too small to fit the truck which would lead to either the mod I did, or using spacers.

What brand of wheels are you looking for? We carry several different brands.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I'd like to see the template you used for your router. Nice work on these!

No template required. I used a rabbetting bit. It has a bearing which acts as a guide to allow a certain depth of cut. For my case, the bit was 1.5" wide and I used a 1" bearing to give a 1/4" cut all the way around effectively increasing the bore of the wheel 1/2".

The first thing I did was remove the wheels I had on my truck and use a set of calipers to measure the hubs on front and rear of my truck. You can then use that to find a set of wheels that meet the specs you need.

You could also disregard the bore and buy a set of bolt on spacers. Just keep in mind that has to be factored into your backspace if added. With my set up, I ended up adding spacers in the rear anyways to have enough clearance thought my suspension travel with bags. Depending on you rear end width, you may or may not need spacers with the Torq thrust st's.
