the next day i put the bed on Mary.. and wow let me tell you how much nicer she looks with the fleetside..not to knock stepsides..i love em.. my 68 is a stepside..but i feel the fleetside look better on this body style..it got dark on me.but i had to take some picsAttachment 1292931Attachment 1292929Attachment 1292928

I couldn't agree more... the Fleetside, in my opinion, looks so much better on this body...

Very cool build. I just picked up a 63 GMC myself and am starting a build. I will keep an eye on yours for inspiration.
Wish I could find a short fleetside bed.

decided to use my 355 4 bolt main instead of the 327....i missed out on takin pics cuz i was in a hurry to get her runnin for Dinos which i didnt make...i pulled my engine back out to do some more painting...right now weather has been crappy...

i used the one-piece oil pan gasket.. i have a 80-85 block and i was kinda surprised i couldnt find a gasket that the correct side for the dipstick instead of the gasket being a universal one...

went with a flat black oil pan gasket..looks better i think

i know you wont be able to see this later..but i think the timing cover gasket is sweet!

finally.. ive goten to the point of stabbing the engine/tranny back in.. what a good night.. its funny how something like putting the motor back in jump starts the motivation 1000%..lol..i was pretty stoked.. slept good that night..

started puting the front clip back together.. i was painting and installing as i go..i gotta get another driver side wheel well..the one i have has got some bad spots on it...but i did as much as i could...




got one side on ..man it is starting to look like a truck again...i liked what i was seeing..

but i quickly realized she neede more rake.. so i pulled her back in and pulled out my trusty grinder and make quick work of cutting the springs..and man let me tell you..it changed her whole attitude..







i feel these truck with the wrap around window were made to have a rake... idk..but it looks damn good..this weekend i get another wheel well and start assembling the driver side..
