Might look at this truck. Thoughts?
I don't know a whole lot about this at the moment. What I do know is that is a 69 that has been lowered. Not sure by what means they lowered it though. It sets without a drivetrain at this time. It had a fuel injected 396 that has since been put in a 66 short bed and sold. A guy I know put this truck together a few years back and it has since seen a few owners but I don't think much has been done to it since then. I do believe one of the owners had taken all the heater stuff and wiper stuff out. From what I remember it was going to be a fair weather driven truck so he didn't want/need all the heater and wiper extras. Whether it got taken out or not is yet to be seen.
I was shot a price of $2500 a year or so ago. Since then the guy sold it to his little brother and hasn't done anything to it. I hear that it could be for sale again so I thought I would go take a look. The body was in good shape from what I can remember of it. I really don't need it but they are pretty cool trucks. I am still working on my 85 short bed and have added a 93 also. I am pretty sure the 69 would hold a better value than the other two value wise. Anyway I only have this one pic of it and just thought I would see what every one had to say.

The satin black look isn't too bad. Found these pics of a GMC

If it is a 69 it has 68 sheetmetal on the front but that is a popular swap as a lots of people like that look best. Jim

These year trucks are a bit new to me but I was thinking there was something different about the front end but couldn't remember for sure.

If the suspension work is solid and the body is as clean as it looks, then I agree with all others here telling you to buy it. I would like to have another SB someday myself.

After a good inspection of the obvious rust or mechanical issues. The truck looks solid; don't let it slip away from you.

Looks like a nice truck. the front end swap to 68 is a great move in my opinion.

Take one or two other with you that know what to look for as far as rust and other potential issues. The more eyeballs, the better, THEN make a decision.
Some folks can make rust look as nice as these pictures...... |

Re: Might look at this truck. Thoughts?
I am going to try to get in touch with this person this coming week and see what he says. I would like to go out and look at it for sure. I am a bit torn on what I want to do with my 85 that I am rebuilding. One part wants to finish it and keep it but then another part thinks maybe if I were to buy the 69 then sell finish and sell the 85 to fund the 69. I could still buy this truck and just set it back until the other is done and I figure what direction to go. I hate passing up on something like this since they are getting harder to find in good shape around here.
My 85 is in the putting back together phase after tear down and ground up build. Still have the whole interior, wiring etc. to put in the cab, drivetrain and paint yet. The interior of the cab, door jambs, back of cab and firewall have all been trimmed in with paint so far with new GM doors and fenders to go on. Tough decision Lol. Had this truck since around 99. I will find out about the 69 and go from there.

Re: Might look at this truck. Thoughts?
Overall I think the 69 redone would be a better investment over the 85. My opinion anyway. I don't always look at things that way but I think the older I get the more I look at it this way.

Re: Might look at this truck. Thoughts?
It might in the end bring more $$$$ but this hobby for the most part is about building what is cool to you not the masses. Looks like you are torn and leaning towards the 69 as a more fun build. Do what makes you happy
