Help ID Truck

I saw this truck at a car show a couple of weeks ago. It looked pretty cool but it was being stored about 10 feet up in a rack. Figured somebody on here has scene one or knows what it is.

Re: Help ID Truck

That is Steve Meyers's shop - Skunk River Restorations. I worked there last summer when I was home over break.
I'm pretty sure that's a Morris Mini.

Re: Help ID Truck

The battery is about the same size as the engine, and probably more reliable and powerful. Put too many wrenches on old English cars...

I live just south of ames. That place was pretty cool, never new it existed. I stopped there last year about upgrading my axel, but they pointed me to Quick Performance.

I like he look of the Morris Minor. I was dreaming about putting a 4 cylinder diesel in in and making the ultimate gopher mobile(go for this, go for that).

Re: Help ID Truck

There's a lotta room in the engine bay, lots of potential. A VW diesel would drop right in, hook up a T5, and your good to go.

Re: Help ID Truck

Heck, why diesel? Put one of these hot little gasser 4-bangers in there and let 'er rip. I love the look, too. They never had the trucks on the East Coast, but I saw them in The Bahamas and California and really dug them. This was back when I was younger and into wee stuff. Still like it but been a full-size guy most of my life since I make my living using trucks.

You know why the British drink their beer warm, don't you?

Re: Help ID Truck

In the course of my long-standing relationship with British vehicles (got a '72 Bonneville sitting in the garage, waiting for a mainshaft), building vintage race bikes (Norton rules!) and restoring and/or repairing all those MG-T series, Jaguars, Rolls-Royces and other lesser known marques- I've heard just about every Joe Lucas joke imaginable. Why don the British have capital punishment? Lucas electric chairs! What's the Lucas corporate motto? A good days work, and home by dark! What's the Lucas employees' credo? A gentleman does not motor about at night! What's the positions on a Lucas headlight switch? Off- dim- flicker! How to diagnose Lucas electrical system faults? When the smoke escapes from the wiring or componentry, replace as indicated, until smoke has been recovered! There's more, but I don't want to/am trying to forget them. But I love me some diesel engines- simple, reliable and economical. My tentative plans for the '70 C10 is a Benz diesel out of a Sprinter van. The drive lines are not cheap, and I'm a cheap guy. Next on the list is a OM603, used in the E- and S- models. Not as nice, but not too hard to find.

Re: Help ID Truck

Those are some great ones I never heard. My buddy who operated a shop specializing in Austin Healeys told me the beer joke. My dad had several Land Rovers, two Rover cars, and an MG TD. His school teacher buddy opened up a British auto repair in the '60s. So I got educated. I loved Jaguars till I found out you better keep tools handy at all times. The couple British bikes I owned were pretty good to me, but they were ground-ups/rewires and the one (Norton 750) never had a Lucas part near it once I went over it. I ran a magneto on that one
