Back up lights stay on while driving...help

I'm having trouble with my b&m hammer shifter in my truck. When I put it in reverse and then into drive my back up light stay on...I actually have to wiggle the shifter back n forth for it to go out. Sometimes it'll stay on in park too. Does anyone have an idea what could be the issue?

You most likely need to adjust the micro switch the runs the back up lights.
try loosening the screws while in park with key on and move the switch around till they shut off. if you can't you will have to shim it or bend the switch mount a tad.

Re: Back up lights stay on while driving...help

there are two micro switches one the drivers side of the shifter. the top one is the reverse light and the one under it is the neutral safety switch. The top one should be wired to your reverse light circuit. If the micro switch is too close to the detent plate the lights will stay on. and obviously if the neutral safety switch is adjusted the same (which it looks to be) you will be able to start the engine in any shifter position. you need to move those switches away from the detent plate about 1/16th to 1/8th inch.
