help with starter wiring

Hi guys, i had an engine fire last year, and I finally got all my wiring patched back up. The only thing i can figure out is what the small wire on my starter should go to, can anyone help me out?

Connect 12V battery cable to the large pole with nut of the seloniod and there also is a purple wire that goes connected there. Check the diagrams. The purple wire goes connected to the ignition switch.

The yellow 20 ga. wire? That goes from the starter solenoid to a splice in your firewall wire gutter, from there it splits, one wire goes to the positive side of your ign. coil, and the other purple/black wire is a resistor wire running to your firewall connector. If you've upgraded to HEI, you should replace this p/blk resistor wire segment with a piece of 18-20 ga. wire. I hope this is the answer you were looking for.

PS: A.P's link above shows the resistor wire color orn/ppl, however my 72 diagram shows it being ppl/blk
