Air cond compressor R&R

Any air cond. experts

Need a new compressor, Looked at Rock auto, autozone, O'Rielys. About $134-$150 bucks rebuilt

I put on a new dryer , and line filter screen, all new o-rings a few years ago after I put a new motor in and the original compressor back on , Should it be OK...? Ill have to re-read up on AC stuff

Original compressor finally crapped

Are these rebuilts good? Anything else I should look at when replacing my compressor... all new orings again..

Re: Air cond compressor R&R

Stay far far away from the rebuilt units, they are garbage and might last you a summer.

The R4 just does not rebuild well, you're better off buying a new one.

Typically when a compressor dies it takes everything with it, the normal procedure is to replace everything.

That being said, when I had mine serviced after the REBUILT unit blew the internal seals the GM Master Tech said that was the cleanest system he had ever seen. So YMMV.

Re: Air cond compressor R&R

Well new is $174, rebuilt $135, no brainer. New is a Everco (?)

Ill get a new receiver-dyer, and orifice filter, orings

I have the R4, short fat compressor. Is there any reason why a guy would want to put a R6 on there? Not sure it would fit with my brackets
