68 C60 will a 6v53 fit

I have seen a number of 4-53's stuffed in almost everything including 50-60 series trucks, but I have never seen a 6-53. I assume they are shorter and would therefore fit but has anyone ever done it ?

I put one in a 68 3/4 ton and it fit but the thing is really heavy, and good look finding parts.

Thanks....
for the most part x-53 parts are 53 parts, should not be any harder than parts for a 4-53.. or am I missing something ?

Not really but the 4 is inline and the 6 is a V but i know rocker covers should fit between the 2

Sounds like an interesting truck.

Do you have any videos of it ?

I'm really surprised on how much "forward" you got the Shifter to be located at.

Is it a Road Ranger Trans ?

Re: 68 C60 will a 6v53 fit

yes RTO-9513... I used the stock front motor-mount location and the rest was dictated...
I will shorten the shifter a bit... in truth the driveline components drove everything else. the intermediate shaft is as short as it can be and still allow it to be removed for service.. and that BIG Rockwell T-1138 Overdrive Transfer case prevented me from sectioning the frame and just using an 8 foot box... as there would be no hope of serviceable drive line angles. as it is the front driveshaft is a LONG whippersnapper and weighs almost 100 Lbs...

I have all the square tube and sheet metal for the doghouse and two other trucks for body parts... I just haven't had time to work on it much...

Re: 68 C60 will a 6v53 fit

I PM'd you about your running ear, but since you have covered most all of it here... what front axle is that? I do not believe I have ever seen a driven Dayton front before.
