Anybody have measurements for idler arm bracket holes?
I put 1972 spindles, steering box etc on my 63 C10. Apparently the idler arm
Bracket mounts in a different location on the frame. You can see the '63 mounting holes going the opposite direction just to the right of where the new one is c clamped on. Anyone know exactly where I should put the holes for the new setup? I'm afraid if I eyeball it things will get wonky real quick. Thanks. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Anybody have measurements for idler arm bracket holes?
What I did was to attach the pitman arm to the steering box and the center-link, and then the idler arm to the center-link and idler mount. Then I supported the center-link by moving the idler arm bracket so all of the natural "hang" and deflection of the center-link would be incorporated into by measurements when determining where to mount the idler arm bracket. I then used two magnetic torpedo levels - one on the flat spot of the crossmember and one on the center-link to get the bar level. I then measured from the center-link to reference holes on the crossmember to ensure the bar was square with the frame and crossmember. Once I had the center-link adjusted to be square and level, I clamped the idler arm bracket in place and drilled the holes. Make sense?
