Re: Finally Started! 75' Crew
Ok as stated here are the interior photos so far.
Still working on figuring out how to restore the door panels to the natural beauty. I have not once ran across the trim panels that looked the same as these. Here is what the driver door looks like.... its bad... And here is the back passenger side door.... Notice the burlwood and the nice silverado aluminum accenting. Any ideas? |

Re: Finally Started! 75' Crew
Well.... for something that has not once been restored.... i guess you could say it is pretty good. I am wanting to build a center console for it and actually buy new carpet. Of course along the way do a restoration but it costs a lot of that green stuff that I dont have a lot of.... ha. Too many projects not enough time or money.

Re: Finally Started! 75' Crew
On your woodgrain question. I can see 2 options. First would be to dig up some 3M vinyl. Or dip them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDfyq_o-3Nw

Re: Finally Started! 75' Crew
Finally another update. Got the hood supported with some pieces of thin gauge steel, got the passenger mirror relocated to match the driver side and got a center console for it. As for the mirrors, turns out they were the cheapos and I will be putting on better ones in the near future. They would never stay tight so when i went to tighten the driver side, it just got worse. The passenger side was not installed correctly so the vent window wouldnt open. Upon relocating it the glass broke. Luckily ive got a different mirror set on my parts truck.
Now on to the good stuff.... Scored a blazer center console to match for only $40! Took a little cleaning but now its in. Looks like i will be sticking to as close to original as possible on the interior. Maybe with a few creature comforts ie 12 volt sockets in the console, a better stereo setup, and i might try and have the buckets bolstered a little bit. Also I plan on cleaning up the dash and covering it with a fabric of some sort. Not quite sure on that route though. Enough blabbering and on to the pictures of the console setup! Now heres a little something i thought up with the rims. I wasnt a huge fan of what is currently on the truck so i did a test fit with a modern hubcap. I would like to try a 90's model black one to decide on just what I want but what I did try I really like! What do you think??? Here is what I had originally And here is what I came up with. I think black with a gold chevy logo would look better.... |

Re: Finally Started! 75' Crew
Got a little done today.... fixed my temperature gauge and messed with my sticky throttle. Need to shorten the cable a few inches so it doesnt jump off the line. And with any luck ill be getting a newer dash this weekend, or in the near future!

Re: Finally Started! 75' Crew
Been starting to look into redoing the dash. Got as far as looking around for the right vinyl or fabric, then started trying to do prep work. The old material was SO bad that if you put any pressure ANYWHERE it would crack. So i decided to start removing everything down to bare metal. Cant decide which route i want to take on it. I can either find a new dash, or fiberglass what ive got and cover with fabric. Either way its in the process. Other than that, I got bored recently so i started making my own overhead console. Got some pics of the progress. My plan is to use the taller portion for switches for accessories, and install two sets of adjustable map lights for the front and rear seats. Also i will be putting on courtesy lamps in the middle for when the doors are open. I plan on doing the majority of it in the same material i put on the dash, then the center main portions will be the same wood grain as the door panels and dash panel. I made it 40" long and 3" tall at the short bit and 6" tall where it will drop down for the switches.
Here are the map lights I plan on using. Or something along those lines anyhow..... |
