Are those numbers the last 3 digits in your serial number?

Re: What does 952 mean stamped on firewall ?
The 952 stamped is the last 3 digits of your trucks PVI (Primary Vehicle Identifier) number.
The 952 written is the last 3 digits of your trucks General Assembly sequence number. Neither number has any real meaning. They were used to keep track of your truck, before and during the build. After the build is completed, those numbers don't have any real significance. Because both of your numbers are the same, it means that no shuffling occurred between body and paint, and was most likely built at the Fremont assembly plant in CA. Is the assembly plant code in your VIN number a Z? Here is a great thread on factory markings http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=591402 And here is a thread if you want to decode your VIN http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=570059

All kinds of wonky numbers and markings on these cabs during the factory assembly line. Puts quite a cool touch to each rig.

Re: What does 952 mean stamped on firewall ?
These numbers are not related to the VIN that I can see...its an Atlanta truck as far as I can tell. Its most likely a sequence of build type of numbering the factory used during assembly.... Its no big deal to me what they are, just wondered if anyone knew for sure. Thanks everyone for the input.

Re: What does 952 mean stamped on firewall ?
Just hadn't seen one from Atlanta.
The stamped number is the last 3 digits of your trucks PVI number. The written number is the last 3 digits of your trucks GA number. And your correct, they were used to track the vehicle throughout the assembly process. It's very cool to see a truck from Atlanta with the PVI number stamped on it. Thank you for posting it.

Re: What does 952 mean stamped on firewall ?
I was going to say it means that it's made of almost pure silver, but then I remembered that would be 925!

The full general assembly sequence number would be six digits, like "317952" and just the last three digits were written as a form of shorthand. Sometimes only the last two digits are written, ie "52". My truck just has "87". K

The GA sequence number is counting up, one for every truck built. The VIN is counting up, but within it's own distinct "family", meaning counting up for every Chevrolet built, but counting up for every GMC built within it's own distinct sequence. In a plant that was also building Oldsmobile and Pontiac, like the passenger car side of Fremont, those would be counting up in their own distinct VIN sequence, too. K
