Re: C10 Derek, my first car
Man, our high school lot didn't look that good, but I did drive a 69 Mustang so wasn't too bad.

Re: C10 Derek, my first car
here are some pics taken yesterday by the yearbook staff, everything is working great! I'll get some pics under the hood for SloshTubz, i think that's the only part we purchased that didn't require modification right out of the box!! We would highly recommend them,

Re: C10 Derek, my first car
Hey all, it's been a while since my last post but I wanted to post an update. Everything been going relatively well since my last post, well.... in hot rod terms, the truck now runs a 350 bored 60 over with a skat stroker crank and 6 inch rods. After numerous engine problems the decision was made to upgrade rather than just fix, special thanks to Valley Head Service for all the help. That being said, I've been driving this truck almost daily since my last post and it has been a blast. Beside occasionally leaving me with a dead battery it really has been perfect and I can't complain. Recently I've taken it to a Cars and Coffee in Montecito and it attracted the same attention as all the high dollar supercars. There certainly isn't such a thing as "just a drive" but it does make everything a whole lot more interesting!
My friend Matthew (Mazda Speed3) and I at Cars and Coffee event. I also took a photography class over the summer.... This picture got me an A This Ford is my Dad's new project.... not sure but I think I might be adopted! |

Re: C10 Derek, my first car
Well guys... what seemed inevitable has finally happened. My Dad would put it, "I ran out of skill" while I'd just prefer not to talk about it all together. Leaving a school event about 8 weeks ago I wrecked into a concrete base to a light post in the school parking lot. Both my passenger and myself were unscathed but my truck did not fair so well... A ruined fender, bent rim, snapped A-arms, and a slightly bent frame along with other wreckage such as a dented header. A few days after the crash I entered into an intense robotics season and rarely left my school for 7 weeks straight leaving my Dad to disassemble in my absence. Both of us have just recently resumed full work on the truck.
Well..... As terrible as it all was, My Dad handled everything very well and I appreciate all of his help. It was hard to own up to my mistake at school but my Dad chose to make the best of the situation and improve front end design. The previous shockwaves in the front rode rough due to high pressure so we opted to change out for separate large volume bags and shocks. With help from No Limits Engineering for supplying old stock A-arms the truck is again quickly taking shape... Its missing some paint but after I locate a rim and a fender it'll be back on the rode. Picture from the night of the wreck Control Arm wreckage... Newest framework and fab, very excited to see it all come together again. As hard as it is to admit.... This was my passenger and now, my girlfriend... It definitely could have ended worse... everyone's safe, the truck will be resurrected, and my Dad didn't kill me yet I'll be sure to post more pictures as it all comes together, thanks for the support. |

Well we all have our Hotrod racer days that don't turn out so great, you learn and continue on, at least your fine and now your truck will get better...as your driving will too. man your girl friend has high shoes. Keep us in the loop on the truck.

Re: C10 Derek, my first car
so its been awhile and a lot has happened, the truck was put back together temporarily for the last week of high school ! Thanks Dad, then we had to figure out college, I ended up at The University of Alabama, a long ways from home and while the C10 has proven to be a great daily driver in sunny California we opted for a built mustang weekend track car (with A/C) I included a pic from the road trip to Alabama, and the C10 is undergoing body and paint at home, new doors, rockers and front fenders and hood

Since you said it's from O'reilly's, what color blue is it in the can? They have a ton of blue. Reason I ask because I've bought numerous colors from parts stores of the same color and none come out what they are supposed to. Did you paint over a primer grey? |

It's duplicolor metal speck, actually shimmers really nicely in the light. This is the frame before. This of course is after paint. Here's a little teaser of my mustang build too... Before 3 weeks later.... |
