Re: Fastest speed

My 69 GMC with a mild SB 406 will hit 100 really quick, but I don't ever push it any faster. Given the aerodynamics of these trucks, the front end gets light, and about all you can do is aim it after that.

I sold it too but the night before the guy was coming to get it my wife wanted to go for one more ride. It was about 1am or so and coming home I laid into it pretty hard. My wife's sign for me to slow down was to tap on my leg. I never felt the tap and next thing I know I glance down and speedo said 169mph. My wife was kinda pissed when we stopped and I asked why she didn't tap. She said she felt like she was going to fly off the bike and couldn't let go of my waist to tap. Looking back it was pretty stupid with her on with me but it felt pretty cool going that fast.
Reminded me of a time years ago (early 80's) when I was first dating my wife. I had an old Honda CB750F that I went off a little local "jump" in the road. I hit it at about 50 or so and felt my wife's hands go from my stomach to my chest. I slowed down and pulled over as she was hitting and yelling at me. She was completely off the bike flying through the air holding on to me for dear life. It took MANY years after that for her to trust riding on a bike with me again.

I have 373 gears 275/60's and a TH350 so my top speed in the truck has only been up to 110 while screaming the whole way. Been to 155 on my 900RR and 135 in my 68 GTO years ago.

Re: Fastest speed

When I bought my truck it had a boat anchor of a 350 that I pulled out and put in a 327 I would hold it in second until 100 and then got up to about 120. She has a 402 in her now and I have been up to 130. It would go faster if it would stay on the road.
