Need some advice from the body guys

This is our current cab on our 1972 chevy c10 however, we have all of the necessary metal to replace the cab corners, rocker panels, supports, etc but we don't have the metal to replace the rust issues on the firewall and the cowl. We have an opportunity to purchase a cab that has all of the metal work done (rocker panels, cab corners, etc) and has a good cowl and firewall. Is it worth it to put all the metal we have into our current cab and still have these issues or just replace the entire cab with the other one? I'm going to post the pictures of the other cab we could buy in the next post.

This is the cab we are looking at buying. It's listed for $250 and we spent about that on the replacement metal for our current cab. We just need some advice on whether or not we would be better off with just selling the metal we bought and putting this cab in our current cabs place with the rust issues we have on our cowl and firewall.

I think it would depend on budget. That cab needs A LOT of work.

We don't have an ass ton of money but some to fix the issues. I personally think we would be better off buying that one for $250 and just swapping the cab out. There's a lot more rust issues on the inside of the cab that we haven't done any work to yet but we have the replacement metal for it.

Yes, guarantee there's a ass ton of rust you haven't seen under the cowl. Better off with the solid one at that price.

That's my thought on it. My dad is gonna call the guy and hopefully we can get it. I'll update it when and if we can buy it.

I'd definitely buy the other one. You might consider grafting the two together. Repair the corners, rockers and floors and graft the whole firewall into the old cab. That is assuming the roof isn't rusty on the old one too...

The replacement cab seems like the way to go. You might ask if the owner has had the doors onto see if the alignment and gaps are still good after he welded on the rockers and corners.

Re: Need some advice from the body guys

Hotrodder makes a good point I was gonna ask why the cab has stopped at that particular moment in time. I mean if I were putting one together I think I had it that far along I would have at the very least ground down the welds but that is just me. My thinking is they maybe didn't brace it up and when the thing was cut apart it went "sprong" and when the door were placed on or maybe doors and fender nothing would fit. I'd make double barrel sure that some doors would bolt and gap up before anything else happens on the deal.
