I am adding the two 3.5" dash speaker and need help as to how they were original installed. Photo is how I have them now. Is this correct.
Any photos of original installation?

That's how mine look. I got mine for 25 bucks for the pair from crutch field and they included the wiring harness and brackets to mount them to the original places.

Zach,

Thanks for confirming that I have them installed correctly.

These are Kicker "KSC35" speakers. They seem to make the dash pad stick up a little. The tweeter may be a little high?
I used a conversion plug-in wire harness also.

I also have kickers, not sure on the model! Great speakers though.

The bracket is correct. The factory speakers were flat so anything raised will contact the dash.

I can confirm this as well.
Have the same Kickers in the front of my Suburban, and when I was pressing the dash in, found out the speakers contact the dash. Dash cracked as I was pressing it back in.

I counter-sunk some tweeters using the OE style replacement brackets from Crutchfield. I set them up so the tops of the tweeters are flush w/the bracket.

Re: Mounting 3 1/2" Dash Speakers?

I recently installed the same speakers in my truck, 1985 GMC. I used the factory brackets as well. I did however mount the speakers on the underside of the brackets to gain some clearance. I did have to add some small washers to get them low enough. I hope it helps, good luck. Chris

Re: Mounting 3 1/2" Dash Speakers?

I mounted 4" pioneer speakers and didn't use the factory mounting brackets. I was only able to use a couple of the mounting holes, and had to bend the mounting frame on the speakers a little bit, but they fit.

Then I got an adapter that allowed me to put 2 Blaupunkt 3.5" speakers in the middle of the dash, so now I'm running 4 speakers up front and 2 6x9's in the rear in brackets I got from Bigblock73 here on the site.
