Re: 6.0 swap advice

Is there a way to I D a 4.8/iron head 6,0 and the gen 3?

Maybe by weight.

I guess I could look up part numbers from GM, thought someone might have a quick answer

Re: 6.0 swap advice

When I was looking all I could come up with was the 4.8 and 6.0 flywheel number was 12561756 and a 5.3 was 12561681..but I couldn't find a flywheel anywhere close to where I live..

When you look at the heads...they aren't aluminum....

GenIII' could have iron heads for the first year or two. 99/2k trucks could have iron heads, at least on the 6.0's. After that, they pretty much went all to aluminum heads. All joking aside, if it has iron heads, its usually worth walking away from.

A 4.8/5.3 will look the same, but the 6.0's will have a "6.0" stamping on them.

Br3w, not the engine weight, the weight of the "FLYWHEEL", are there different weights or are they all the same for the LS?
