Transmission Crossmember - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey,

Well it's come time to start putting my truck back together, and I need to know where to mount my transmission crossmember.

It's a 350/350 combo, (auto transmission), and the engine will be in the stock v-8 location, and I was wondering which holes the it mounts in, there looks to be about 3 places that I could mount it. I know the general location, just can't figure out holes to use.

The way I do it is put the crossmember on the frame but farther back than it needs to be, then drop engine and tranny in and slide crossmember into place. Let the tranny rest on xmember until you get the motor mounts bolted up (easier to move around to get motor mounts lined up). Then bolt crossmember to tranny then bolt to frame. Hope that helps.

Dont put cross member in till you have the transmission, then you will be able to find which holes to use of end drilling new holes like I had to.
