Help with Grille Support panel on my 66 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm mocking up the front end of my 66 and the bottom of the grille support panel and the front of the fenders don't line up at all on both the pass and drivers side. I have them pretty close on top but there's no way to make of that much of a difference to fix the bottom.

My thought is I could bend the bottom of the grille support down enough to match the fender but I'm afraid it will look bad and I also don't want to ruin a good original panel. Any thoughts on this? Here are some pictures of what I'm talking about.

That is because you have aftermarket fenders which typically don't fit at all without a bunch of rework. How is the fit at the cab and with the inner fenders? If it were me, I would send those fenders back and just fix the original fenders.

Thanks for your reply. The fenders actually fit very well at the cab. The pass side inner fender is terrible and the drivers side is pretty good. The original fenders are completely shot and so are the inner's. Looks like I'll be looking for some originals.

Yeah, it's amazing what the aftermarket companies thinks is acceptable for panel fitment. Seriously do any of these yahoos ever test fit their parts on an original vehicle, to check fitment?!

I was thinking the very same thing Mike while I was trying to bolt the front end on my truck.

mine fit the same or close to that. when fitting have everything loose while fitting, then tighten everything up. my grill support was bent a little also. Mine ended up fitting with a little muscle.

I had the same issue...you have to "re drill'..." file" & "FINENESS"...re-drill the IMPORTED FENDER & PULL!!! TILL DESIRED RESULTS ARE ACHIEVED!! it takes time so take your time....good luck.
