Re: 40 Gal suburban Gas Tank into 71 4x4 truck install.

87-91 Suburbans were fuel injected. That's the tank I'm using.

87-91 were TBI.

That may not generate enough fuel line pressure for more modern injection systems (EFI, TPI, multiport, etc).

I recommend you double check the pressures just to be sure.

Correct and thanks.

Stock TBI pressure for the 87-92's was between 12-15psi. I would like to find a drop in pump that feeds 60 psi for my Edelbrock Pro Flow system that will drop into these suburban 40 gallon tanks.

I'll start another thread to keep this one from getting too mudded up.

Thanks gang.

Re: 40 Gal suburban Gas Tank into 71 4x4 truck install.

Just out of curiosity and ignorance what's the benefit of in tank bs inline?

I just had the pleasure of swapping the one out in my 93 and as I look to install tbi on my 72 I really question if I want to have it in the tank

3 things that i can think of:

1) fuel keeps the in-tank pump cool making for longer life.

2) these pumps work better as a pusher rather than a puller. i know there's debate depending on the pump here.

3) eliminates loss of prime of the pump.

im sure others will chime in.

Keith, I'm running a ACDelco EP381 not a TBI pump

Rockauto says 35 x 28-3/4 x 13-1/8

Beware the fuel filler is, not only on the wrong side, it's in the wrong place. So be prepared to move it.

Also the neck is 1.75" and your Suburban filler is 1.5"
