How much do you want to spend? Give a price range and you may get a better response. I bought an Olympus D-550 a while back that seems to be excellent for point and shoot pics and is easy to work with. I is probobly about $125 now.

I had a HP 315, great point and shoot, very durable, easy to use, and cheap. Can be had on e-bay for 100 bucks.
After my wife lost that one on a roller coaster, I got a Fuji Fine pix A303...very high quality picture, but so fragile it only lasted me a week. (I am kinda rough on my stuff. I bought it second hand, can't remember what it cost, but it was enough to p!ss the wife off.
Now I went back to HP with an HP635. Takes pretty awsome pictures,a dn i think it was less than 150 bucks. Seem prety durable, but I am babying it though. Decent internal memory, avalible memory chip, 2.1 MP, takes short movie clips with sound too...although i have yet to figure most of this out.

About a year and a half ago we picked up the Olympus D-380 at Wal-Mart... we got it mostly for my wife to take pics of stuff she was selling on eBay, so we didn't want to spend a lot of money. I think we spent right at $100 and we didn't need anything else.

We love this digital camera, and I recommend that you look at the Olympus line of digital cameras. It takes very good pictures and has 4 different resolutions, the extra $60 we just spent for an additional 128mb Smart Card allows us to take over 250 pictures at 1600x1200 which is much larger than necessary. (the 8mb card takes about 24)

On the "Longhorn Man" durability scale , it also makes the grade... (I'm pretty rough on most of my stuff too) and the wife dropped it on the concrete driveway... it has never had a problem.
