Best rear coil spring 69 Burb
So this weekend I dropped the back of my 69 burb using 4" CPP springs, Now the axle is at the bump stops. Which springs would be better that are firmer? I would like to haul a bit more than air, or do I now need to c notch the frame? these are too soft. I have a set of 2" fronts yet to go in, are they just as soft as the rears? Thanks guys

Re: Best rear coil spring 69 Burb
You might consider a Burb specific rear drop spring. They are built to compensate for the extra weight of the suburban. GMC Pauls sells them. Another option would be to bag the rear. This will give you the flexability to raise and lower the rear as needed.

The burb/panel drop springs are really heavy duty when you do a side by side with the truck drop springs. I think mine came from CPP. I used to have a pic of the side by side but I cant find it anywhere.

I have the CPP 4" heavy duty rear springs on my Burb and have no issues. Did you order the regular springs or the heavy duty ones? I have the 3" springs up front with no issues as well.

Re: Best rear coil spring 69 Burb
They were regular ones, I picked them up from LMC when I was in Kansas. I have read a lot here that 4" is usually not a problem that why I questioned if I had picked up the wrong ones

Re: Best rear coil spring 69 Burb
I have a 72 Burb with a recent front end rebuild with 2.5 inch dropped spindles and factory front springs. Wheel arch measurement through the center of the 15 inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and BF Goody 225-70-15 front tire is 29.5 inches. Perfect look for me. The original back springs are nearly solid (little to no coil separation) and the wheel arch measurement is 30.5 inches, which looks good sitting still. I have a set of new factory Burb springs and would like someone to give me a wheel arch measurement if they have new factory springs in the rear (include tire size). If anyone out there have used 2-3 inch dropped rear springs, give me a wheel arch measurement and your rear tire size...pictures would be nice too! Just trying to arrive at the best guess rear ride height so I'm not too high or too low. My rear tires are 255-70-15 and the current rear wheel arch measurement is 30.5 inches. I would like my rear arch about the same, +/-.5 inches. Thanks!

Geemac- I seem to remember a thread that included the info your looking for. Maybe try a search? Mine is similar to yours but no clue how high it is supposed to be. Good luck and if you find it, bump it to the top so we all can find it?

Re: Best rear coil spring 69 Burb
Today I put in the front 2" drop coils, that may have lifted the burb up...the pic with the c10 is before, one without is after.

Re: Best rear coil spring 69 Burb
Mine sits the same in the back with the reg springs, yours do look heavier than mine. I was surprised that I didn't get any drop in the front.
