LCA help

Hey guys, so I'm in the process of rebuilding my front end suspension on my 71 1/2 ton. I'm actually installing pb stage 1 front but while I was down there drilling some holes for my bag plates n shock relocators I decided I might as well buy new ball joints n switch those out. In the process of removing old riveted ball joints I noticed some play in my lower n upper control arms so again i figured might as well rebuild them while i was down there.

So now I've bought new ball joints all around, new shafts for uppers n lowers and new u bolts. I remove the passenger side u bolts n as the a arm came off so did the rear side nut/bushing cap. I thought it was strange that it came off so easy... well it appears my a arm has a crack that split open the pare where the cap threads onto the arm. Did some searching here n seems like the arm is toast! Rebuilding has now turned into replacing!

So as I look for new arms all I seem to find near me are for years other than 71-72. My question to you all is what are my options for LCAs? I know ball joints are not interchangeable with all years and because I already have the shaft replacement kit n ball joints for the 71 I haven't looked into tubular arms. So can I use any 67-72 LCA...do I need 71-72 LCAs for the ball joints that I already have? Any input is much appreciated guys!

Re: LCA help

You need 67-72 C10 a-arms.
The ball joints will interchange between these.
Even c20 and c30 UPPER a-arms will work.

But you CANNOT use c20 or c30 LOWER a-arms.
The balljoint hole is too big for your c10 balljoints.
Hope this helps,...

Re: LCA help

Hey thanks for the reply. It does help, I was under the impression that 67-70 had interchangeable ball joints and the 71-72 had a diff size ball joints. But thanks for the info! I'm meeting someone today to try n pick up a pair of lca. Thanks again!

Re: LCA help

You are correct.
I'm talking JUST about the arm itself.
You can install any balljoint from 63-87 in these a-arms.
You are correct about the balljoints being different, because the spindle hole sizes are different.
They break down by these years:
60-62
63-70
71-72
73-87

Re: LCA help

Ahh okay I see. I'll be looking at a 71 in a few minutes to see if I can pull a couple parts off. Hey I appreciate the info a lot! Thanks a bunch!
