Tight bolt to steering unit

The high pressure line to my steering is blown. Can't loosen the fitting on the end of the line. Have tried knock'er loose fluid and have a line wrench. Very tight and I don't want to booger it up. Any suggestions? Heat?

Re: Tight bolt to steering unit

If the hose is blown, its trash anyway. Get it out of the way.

Use an imp (mini tubing cutter) and crop the steel tubing as close to the fitting nut as possible. If you can't spin even a mini cutter, use a hacksaw blade or sawzall.

Then, with no tube sticking out of the fitting to deal with, the nut can be grabbed with a box end wrench or 6-point socket.

I had to do exactly the same thing. The fitting was so tight that I started to round it off with the line wrench. If you have a long ratchet that will help with getting some good leverage.
