Horn Problem -Help -Need inspect sticker
I push on the horn button and the relay clicks.
I bought a new relay and the relay still clicks. The truck was sitting over a year. The steering wheel is starting to crack. The wiring has not been messed with. I don't know when the last time the horn worked. This is all i need for an inspection sticker. |

first thing to check is the horn itself , run a hot wire to the horn terminal to see if it beeps if not remove the horn and take sandpaper and cleanup where the horn bolts to the rad support to make sure it's grounded real good if it don't beep with the 12v then you need a horn

The relay clicking is a good thing. it is doing it's job.
As siad before, check to see if the actual horn is a dead player. If the horn does honk, then you nood to follow the dark green wire up to the firewall and see if it is broken or melted. |

Yup, relay should click (that means it's getting ground from the horn button). And when it clicks, it should send 12v to the green wire, hence to the horn itself. And as stated, the horn must be grounded via its mounting stud.

Is it suppose to be above the voltage regulater with one green wire plug?
If so then there's no horn there but there is a dark green wire that not plugged into anything. Guess I'll have to go buy a horn. I do have another question. I took off a sparkplug to do a tune up. There is a spacer on the sparkplug. Why? This truck was just bought from the original owner with minimum to no mods? Thanks for the horn help. |

Definately sounds like horn is missing----spacer indicates a possible problem with oil fouling in that cylinder.

Yup, the horn mounts near the voltage regulator. Actually, mine has two, with a green wire piggybacked to the second horn.
No idea about the sparkplug spacer.

Looks like the horn issue is covered. Like kwmech said on the spacer. Is it more like a cap, cut out at the on a couple sides by the electrode? If that is correct then its purpose is to shield the electrode from becoming fouled with oil. How many cylinders have those? Usually a sign of valve seal or piston ring problems. Since you said spacer I'll assume it's not just the washer that came on the plug. The only other spacer I'm aware of is those used to index the plugs. For the guys looking for every last .01 horsepower they would use spacers to index the plugs, or make the electrode be in the same position in all cylinders.

just finished the spark plugs, oile and fuel filter.
All 8 cylinders have them. Some of the spark plug had oil on them. was it still worth changing the spark plugs. How will this affect me. Just using it a second vehicle to help around the house (the bed helps) and a very slow restore project. |

Sorry for long delay.
I working on the truck...coming in and out of the house. The spacer is about 1/2 inch long. The spark plug screws into the spacer. The spacer and the spark plug screw into the block as one piece. Sorry no dc or i'd take a picture. The new plugs are back in the truck already anyways. |

The spacer he's talking about is a cheesy way of preventing oil fouling on the plugs. You thread the spacer into the plug hole then the plug goes into that. Supposed to help keep oil off the plug tip. I think Motormite makes them aka Help!.
