Test the voltmeter on the bench. This indicator only requires 2 connections; battery voltage and a good ground. Hook it up to a temporary 12 VDC supply and if it's good, it should react.
Use an old-fashioned style battery charger (not one of the new automatic ones) or a charged up battery. Looking at the meter from the back, connect a jumper from the positive supply to the lower left pin and a jumper from the negative to the top middle pin. If it does indicate voltage correctly on the bench - but not when installed in the cluster and this is true: I tested the back of the cluster, and with the key on, the Voltmeter prongs on the back of the cluster get power, and have a good ground check that the contact between the clips and the copper conductors at the pc board is tight and clean. |
