chrome valve cover

Picked up a chrome valve cover for my 250. It has a hole in the side of the valve cover, it came with a rubber plug. What normally goes there ?

The rubber plug goes there!
Ok, that's corny! lol

An EGR hose came off the side to the manifold I believe.
