LT1 Burb: factory air ?
I know you are a hvac specialist and your 65 is just spot on restoration so I got to ask you. I used old air products to replace my condensor, evaporator core, valve, new proten6 a6 replacement compressor. Everything fit and finished better than new. Had to use one oem hose clamp due to crimping tool too big to crimp collar. Otherwise all fitings replaced with o ring style or crimped collars, I am adding the binary switch to the dryer and cutout wires running back in old style loom to compressor. I planned for R-134 and would still like the look of both the oem r12 steel caps? Anyway to make this work? I figured I could leave alone the R=12 high side fitting. What are you using on your 65? Thanks . Mark

Re: LT1 Burb: factory air ?
Yes, just use 134A and leave the original fittings intact, they are easier to use anyways as you don't need an adaptor. I will probably be replacing my condenser as the 2 I have are in rough shape, my evap coil is decent so I will use it. Are you putting your X brace back in?

Re: LT1 Burb: factory air ?
Yeah it was riveted on the bottom and bolted at the top on the original ac factory installed ac core support. I thought I would use 1/4 inch steel button top alan head bolts that look like rivets on all four. The senior counter guy at NAPA that crimped my hose set said there was no way to not use the adapter fittings for R-134 but that makes me feel much better. My evap core was really super nice but then I decided why not have the whole system new when and clean when changing the system oil for the new compressor too. Thanks again LT1.

Re: LT1 Burb: factory air ?
No worries, we never use those fittings for 134A in a commercial unit. We have units that hold 3500# of 134A and we use old style non auto fittings. I hate those automotive fittings, they are for dumb asses so they don't mix refrigerants. What did you use for an Evap coil and what was the condenser coil out of.

Re: LT1 Burb: factory air ?
The evaporator core was copper tubing and was a direct drop in. I used their gas valve and my oem short barbed hp line fitting and new parker hose with #8 collar crimped at firewall end. The #12 size hose to compressor I used a new o ring straight fitting on the evaporator core and had to go with an original ac clamp on compressor. A little trying tightning the core end all mounted in place. I seriously about used a 90 fitting at the firewall to make that very close transition to the compressor fitting. But trying to duplicate factory it will work this way. The whole system cleaned up and sealed better than new with new gaskets everywhere. I'll post more pictures when I get the inner fender batter box in place.

Re: LT1 Burb: factory air ?
On the condensor up front I bought their 60 to 66 ac condensor kit with binary switch and dryer lines. I wanted to hide line connections under battery box so I refabricated the high pressure line to hide mostly behind the grille surround panel. I also ditched the small line from kit with ports by running #8 hose directly to dryer fitting like oem. I'll use factory ports on compressor manifold and mounted hi/low pressure switch in dryer. This also hides behind grille surround panel. Made up cut sw wires and installed in old time cloth covering back to compressor. The condensor was a high volume aluminum in kit it bolted right up to existing shroud mounts. If it cools when done I will be 100 percent proud of this rebuild. I also lightly painted black all fittings lines condensor out front visible behind grille.
