I know the ADD part.... plus I have project creep really bad. I start something and then think, I might as well do that while I have this apart, and then while I have this apart I can get to that, and so on. You get the idea!
Totally agree, I am trying my best to keep the thought in my head this one is not a "resto" right now, just make it safe and fun to drive for another year (or until the SWB is done) but of course that is way easier said than done.

LOL... I hear ya, no matter how big the shop is, it ends up being stuffed with parts and projects all of which get touched even though progress seems soooo slow...

Likewise!
I certainly haven't seen a bunch of these around here anyway, part of the reason for keeping it original.. I think she's earned it. Eventually I'll go from top to bottom, but I have two others in line already,...

Re: 68 Burb - Project - GoldMember

Overall the weekend was good, however I only had a few hours Saturday in the shop to work on GoldMember, but is was pretty fast paced..

Started by grinding off the rivets and hammering out the old cross member from the 3 spd trans, no pics as it was just an oil soaked lump...

Then it was on to remove the steering column and getting a closer look at the firewall. The area behind the old master cylinder was a bit rough, so I decided to scuff it down and prep it for paint.

Before:After

Since I am going from 3 spd. to an automatic, I also removed the pedal assembly and broke it down for a conversion to single pedal.

Before:After

Any of you notice the extra hole in the brake pedal arm? Any guesses what that's for?

Next up was to move over to the heater box area and assess the rust in the fan hole perimeter.

Beforeuring:After

ran out of time, need to grind, check for pinholes, bodywork, prime and then get the firewall painted in these areas. Hope to match the existing, but if not then I'll do the whole thing.

Almost forgot, I always hated the fact that some trim pieces were missing, I had a couple of extra side mouldings and worked on creating the missing pieces from them.

Before:After

will keep on it this week... Thanks for watching...

Re: 68 Burb - Project - GoldMember

I only had a short while to work tonight
Snuck out and got the frame painted last night, so tonight I hung the front cross member with the bags and tubular lower control arms and new ball joints.
Pics in the morning since my phone is not cooperating

Great progress. Sometimes I do things by bits at a time, but it all adds up and before you know it that part of the project is done..... Kudo's on stayin' with it when you can.

I just found this thread. And I have to say "Groovy Baby!" in my best Austin Powers voice.

Nice progress as well.
