Parts Thoughts...

I am going to look at this hood for my '74. It's off a Jimmy, supposed to be rust free, straight, etc. $50 is a really good deal.

The only issue with mine is that the inner panel lip at the front has some serious rust that you only see/feel when opening the hood. Closing it always leaves rust debris on the core support. I can get the front of the hood in a repo strip for about $20+ shipping but then there is the whole cut, remove, weld thing and hope it all lines up.

His hood looks to have some surface rust in the drivers side of the lip but he says it's not cancerous. My biggest concern, is that my hood is really straight and not kinked at all and no dings or dents. If his is as good as he claims, mine is a great spare. If his is bowed, then I am spending the money for a hood I will never use.

Here are the photos of the hood. One is on the ground and one shows the edge where a kink or bow usually is. Does the hood look straight to you guys? It does to me but my eyes are not what they once were.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Parts Thoughts...

Now the photos are back in the original post... weirdness!

Anyway, I pulled the trigger on the hood. It is really nice. Some 220 grit will remove any rust scale underneath, a little primer and I will be in business. No dents or dings. No kink or buckle. Just waiting for a second pair of hands to assist in the R&R!

Now for the right side inner fender and a core support... patience says Mr. Miyagi!
