Blower motor noise intermittent...

I have looked and have not seen this particular problem... I apologize if this a repost... When I turn on my ac, the blower motor (i think its the blower motor) squeals for maybe 2 to 5 seconds then quits squealing and seems to blow fine. It happens pretty much every time you turn off and then back on the ac, or every time you kill it and start it... What is happening??? Thank you guys so much, in advance!!!

Re: Blower motor noise intermittent...

I have the same issue in my S10, on mine, its the shaft support at the end of the case, too much end play and it is actually spinning out of round enough to create the wonderful noise...

Re: Blower motor noise intermittent...

could be a whole lot of crap in the housing causing the squirll cage to move it till it gets spinnin
you could remove the blower and take you hand into the housing and remove the 40years of crap that has found it's way into the deadend housing

Re: Blower motor noise intermittent...

bad bearing or bushing as in dry, not lubricated. if it can be disassembled and greased you may try that. otherwise maybe a whole new fan assembly. dont throw anything away untill the fan is back in and working.

Re: Blower motor noise intermittent...

My fan started making noise intermittently around 1992. Stopped doing that long ago. Every now and again it doesn't turn on the first time, but everything "still works", though I drive this very little. I'll likely replace the motor when everything is disassembled. That and a switch I imagine.
