I have a 427 tall deck I am building but I have a few questions before I am finished. But this is what I have so far

If any of you have been around a tall deck intake manifold you know there is a large coolant bypass under the thermostat housing. With out cutting it off flat and putting a freeze plug in the hole is there a nice clean way to block it off? It is getting a standard bbc water pump.

It's just a 750 Edelbrock proformer with a black powder coat. Part number 350-14073 from jegs.

Here is a little bit of history on the truck and the build.

I bought the truck about 3 years ago for the base. It is a heavy 3/4 ton. It had a worn out 350, Munice rockcrusher, np205, 10.5" 14 bolt full float rear end, a dana 60 up front, Detroit lockers front and rear, and 4.10 gears. So It was the perfect truck for a wood hauler and all around farm truck.

I found a complete 427 tall deck in western Kansas out of an 83 c70 for 500 dollars. It turned over and fired a few times but wouldn't run for more than a few seconds. After talking the guy into letting me keep the air pump, bell housing for the spicer transmission the flywheel and a brand new 13" twin disc clutch, it came home.

During the tear down in found number 8 connecting rod was bent. Thankfully I have a few friends with large spare parts bins and we found another one that would work.

I bought a factor rebuild kit from Northern, with a cam upgrade.
Operating Range:1400-5400 RPM
Duration Advertised:262° Intake / 270° Exhaust
Duration @ .050'' Lift:218° Intake / 226° Exhaust
Valve Lift w/1.7 Rockers:.505'' Intake / .515'' ExhaustLobe Separation Angle:111°

Next I found a guy that bought a vortec 454 long block and decided to go with aluminum heads. I know these heads are not the best flowing heads at high RPMS but on a 427 that will never see 4500 rpms they will work well. And they took my compression up a full point it is now 9 to 1. But the best part was the price I was able to pick them up for 550 dollar for the set.

After about a month of saving I bought pushrods, 750 Edelbrock carb, 6 psi edelbrock fuel pump, fuel pump push rod, manual choke cable, and a centerforce dual friction clutch.

It's knew they made spacer but I'm trying to do a budget build, as of right now i have a little under 2800 dollars in the motor. And I still have a lot of small parts to buy. But it is something I thought about if I need to.
