Cape Codder Registered User Join Date: May 2013 Location: Centerville,Ma. Posts: 1,224	Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build. If oil or grease gets into the solinoid on the starter you will have the problems you describe. The solinoid is a heavy duty magnetic switch that actuates the starter.
