Power Steering Bracket with Porterbuilt Front Drop Member
My son is having some difficulty mounting the power steering bracket on a small block 350 with a long water pump on his '67 Chevy 2wd short bed.
He is using the factory power steering bracket from a '75 chevy 350 (which is identical to the power steering bracket for my '72 Jimmy with a 350) and it makes contact with the rack on the porterbuilt drop member before the power steering bracket is completely bolted in. Is there a better bracket that can be used without breaking the bank? What solutions have you used to get around this figment issue? Thank you, Bob Posted via Mobile Device Last edited by Sandemonium; 08-27-2013 at 12:54 PM. Reason: Added year and model of truck |

I have a 76 long pump eng and the p.s. pump mounts to a boss on the water pump. It looks to be higher than your setup.

Re: Power Steering Bracket with Porterbuilt Front Drop Member
I have the long pump as well. I installed power steering recently, and my main mount hangs from the water pump. It looks like your mount is for the standard pump and mounts to the engine. Look in the parts section here, and you should be able to find the proper long pump mount. Good luck!

Re: Power Steering Bracket with Porterbuilt Front Drop Member
Thanks for the pictures and direction. The 350 and power steering bracket/pump came out of a '75 G30 van so I thought it was the correct setup.
I will look in the classified to see if anyone is selling a long water pump bracket and pulley. I was also thinking this may work too - http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/ptd/3946578200.html Any thoughts? Thanks for the help, Bob Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Power Steering Bracket with Porterbuilt Front Drop Member
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the style PS bracket for a short water pump? If you are running a long water pump you just need long water pump style PS bracket and it will move it forward and or up out of the way. Jason
