Transmission quandary

Need some advice. Currently i have a 67 C20, SM465 with 3:73 gears, behind a 383 stroker turning about 500hp. I do use the truck to occasionally haul and tow my 25ft camper. One of my long term goals with the truck is always to upgrade the transmission. Perfect world NV4500, but the budget says otherwise. I have an opportunity to pick up a 1995 1500 suburban with the 4L60E for under $1000. I can toss a few hundred at that thing to make it my towing rig (hitch, brake controller, misc repairs), or i can go the TH400 route in my truck. I know i can't tow in overdrive, so at the end of the day its still 1:1. I estimate that i could convert to the TH400 for around $1500. Anyways, looking for some thoughts on direction. Thanks
