Truck stays running after key removal.
I recently installed a band new ignition switch in my 70' C10 Fleetside. Starts the truck fine, but wont shut her down. Can I connect a wire to one of the G1 prongs, which I'm assuming mean (ground) and run the wire directly to the negative on the battery to kill the truck? Because right now all I'm doing to shut the truck down is slowly letting the clutch out to stall her. HAHA!! Thanks for any help.

Re: Truck stays running after key removal.
Do you still have power to the coil after this? Do you still have power to accessories (radio work or blower motor)? Did it do this before the switch replacement?

Yes, it did the same before replacing the ignition switch.

Re: Truck stays running after key removal.
You have a severe electrical problem and safety issue. You really need to take a good wiring diagram and figure out where the power is coming from.
How bad is the wiring hacked up? How long have you had it? Still wonder if it's just that the engine won't stop or that you have power to accessories too with key off? Basically you have power that comes to the ignition switch from battery then back out to the coil. The ignition switch should interrupt that power and allow the engine to stop. Do you have a mini-starter and original style coil by any chance? First place I would look is the yellow wire from coil to starter and see if it has power all the time for some reason.

Re: Truck stays running after key removal.
I would check for power at the coil, and work back from there (after turning it off). Also, if you're too lazy to get all the way into the truck to get the coil, just check it at the firewall connector.
