Door latches
Sill in the planning stages off my 47 build. So far I got it home and off the trailer. I will start a build thread when I actually get to work on it.
Because my wife and kids will be driving it at some point I need to make sure the doors stay shut. I see the term bear claw used a lot. Is that just another term for modern style latches? |

Re: Door latches
Another option is Altman easy latches. A little pricey, easy install and they work very well.

Re: Door latches
That's what I was kinda figuring. What I was kinda thinking since the door needs to be reworked anyway was using a set of latches from an 07 and up GM pickup. Fairly compact, door jamb switch built in and power locks. Thoughts?

Re: Door latches
I made my own Altman style latches. I just used big bear claws and made some plates that bolted on. i'll be making some prototypes eventually to give out for guys to try. just haven't gotten around to that quite yet. The downfall is, if you have turn down handles, you can't use them, well... you might be able to if that is your goal. Mine wasn't on this one. so what I did was installed this actuator that is run off of the AVS keyless entry. I managed to get the interior handles to work.
it took me quite few hours to get it all mapped out. You really have to have some cracker jack timing cause the mech can hit the windows if your not careful. Overall I'm happy with it and I saved some loot, but.... lost out on time doing it. Though next time around I have templates and reference points. I have a video of them in action if you want to see it.
