47-53 solid windshield swap???

Hey guys, I've done a quick search and can't find what I think I've seen before somewhere. Swapping out the split windshield on a 1947 to 1953 truck to the 1954 solid one.
Is it as easy as taking out the center strip and cleaning up the seal edge and just put the new glass in or does the other glass need more rework of the window frame??

Thanks

54 glass will not fit 47-53. The cab is different.

Actually glass may be even cheaper then you think: when I ordered my windshield from Classicparts I ordered 2 thinking 1 for each side, nope 2 means 2 pairs. At $39 or $49 I just held on the the extra, so not only can you get a windshield for under $100 but you can get 2 for under $100.

Re: 47-53 solid windshield swap???

as lv2tri2 said the 54 glass won't come close to fitting as it is curved and the 53 and earlier is flat.

As far as the aftermarket single piece glass for 47/53 I'd seriously suggest seeking out a couple of trucks at shows that have those windshields in them and looking closely at the glass and especially through the center where they bent it. The one I see fairly often at local events has an extreme amount of distortion in the glass at the V in the middle.

Yea I'm pretty happy when I look at new glass prices. From my local shop I can get every peace of glass for $300
